Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and direct cabling installation teams.
  • Construct telecommunications equipment rooms.
  • Implement cable support systems including cable trays, j-hooks, and ladder trays.
  • Install various types of cabling such as Cat 6 horizontal, backbone, fiber optic, and inner duct.
  • Set up specialized systems including security, CCTV, audio-visual, and fire alarm cabling.
  • Terminate Cat 6 horizontal outlets and optical fiber connections.
  • Conduct copper and fiber splicing, utilizing both fusion and mechanical methods.
  • Perform testing on copper and optical fiber cables.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to both copper and fiber optics.
  • Work at heights and operate power tools safely.
  • Lift and manage equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Be available for occasional overtime and travel as needed.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience managing projects in the communications cabling field.
  • Experience in Data Centers is advantageous.
  • Thorough understanding of industry codes and standards.
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation tracking project progress.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional demeanor and positive attitude are essential.

Desired Certifications:

  • BICSI Certified Technician Installer 1 or 2 for Copper and/or Fiber.
  • Additional manufacturer certifications.
  • Certifications such as OSHA, Confined Space, etc.

Tools: Candidates must possess all necessary hand tools for communications technician work, ensuring they are well-maintained and proficiently used.
