Key Responsibilities- Enhance the image of our Recreation Department and provide a quality experience for visitors to our aquatics area.
- Ensure the safety of guests by observing swimmers at all times and responding promptly to emergency situations.
- Perform lifesaving procedures and provide first aid as needed.
- Recordkeeping and assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the pool and surrounding areas.
- Establish and maintain a positive public relations image through effective communication, positive interactions, and consistent enforcement of policies and procedures.
- Disseminate and promote Parks & Recreation program information and direct guests to relevant locations.
- Resolve team or patron concerns through positive interaction, collaboration, and the application of appropriate policies and procedures.
- Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings and in-service trainings.
- Consistently report to work properly outfitted and equipped as outlined in staff policies.
- Current Lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid certification.
- Swim beach lifeguard-Waterfront Lifeguard Certification preferred or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
- Prior lifeguarding experience and customer service training preferred.
- Ability to react quickly and correctly in emergency situations and perform required lifesaving procedures.
- Ability to make sound judgments, exercise conflict resolution, and exhibit patience when dealing with stressful and/or disciplinary situations.
- Ability to safely and properly use required equipment.
- Knowledge of all rules and regulations pertaining to water safety, including authorized signals and emergency procedures.
- Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions and communicate in a friendly, positive, and professional manner with co-workers and the general public.
- Minimum age requirement of 16 years old.
This position requires standing for long periods, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, moving, and positioning objects up to 50 pounds. You must be available to work some evenings, weekends, and holiday hours.
