LPN - Weekend Incentive Program

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our residents. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for coordinating resident care, supervising nursing assistants, and ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient outcomes.
Responsibilities- Direct the day-to-day functions of nursing assistants and other staff members
- Provide direct nursing care to residents, including administering medications and treatments as ordered by physicians
- Conduct regular rounds to assess resident conditions and document observations, interventions, and outcomes
- Supervise feeding of residents as necessary and ensure that physician orders are implemented
- Notify physicians and supervisors of any changes in resident conditions
- Perform administrative duties, such as documenting nurses' notes, assessments, and physician orders
- Chart pertinent facts and information in a professional, clear, and comprehensive manner
- Admit, transfer, and discharge residents according to policy
- Recognize and respond to changes in resident conditions and document observations, interventions, and outcomes
- Order medications and treatments from the pharmacy and prepare, administer, and document as ordered by physicians
- Ensure that physicians sign off on all verbal orders and document the process
- Conduct and/or monitor prescribed treatments, such as dressing changes, drawing of blood, catheter changes, NG tube insertion and removal, laboratory work, etc.
- Give and receive condition reports from the on-coming and off-going shifts
- Perform emergency procedures, such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and notify family and appropriate parties in the event of death
- Recognize, intervene, report, and document accidents and incidents when they occur
- Monitor and update care plans on each shift as appropriate
- Supervise and participate in fire safety and other disaster drills and be prepared to carry out duties in the event of an actual event
- Recognize, intervene, and/or report complaints and grievances from residents, families, visitors, and employees
- Monitor the facility for possible health and safety hazards
- Maintain privacy and confidentiality of records, conditions, and other information relating to residents, employees, and the facility
- Follow established universal precautions and isolation procedures
- Update daily census report and submit as required
- Attend and participate in orientation programs, on-going training, and educational classes
- Check inventory and request equipment, supplies, etc.
- Assist in updates of written policies and procedures of routine nursing care
- Participate in surveys made by authorized government agencies
- Monitor and participate in daily clean-up of the nurses' station
- Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing for Licensed Practical Nurses
- Current State of Tennessee Licensed Practical Nurse (See exception below)
- Exception: employed as a Graduate Nurse until successful completion of the State board per Governor's Executive order No. 28, dated April 17, 2020, amending Executive Order No. 26, paragraph 7.16. If unsuccessful with State board, employee becomes ineligible for LPN-Charge Nurse position
- Work is typically performed in a well-lit, comfortable temperature-controlled environment; above-average conversational noise is frequent
- Ability to perform essential functions of the job
- Job will require frequent lifting of objects up to 40 pounds
- Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing, and pulling
