Lead AI Researcher for Multimodal Technologies

As a Lead AI Researcher for Multimodal Technologies at Amazon, you will play a key role in advancing the state-of-the-art in generative artificial intelligence (GenAI).
About the RoleWe are looking for an experienced Senior Applied Scientist with a strong background in cutting-edge LLM technologies and a passion for innovation.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Leveraging Amazon's heterogeneous data sources and large-scale computing resources to accelerate advances in GenAI.
- Collaborating with other science and engineering teams as well as business stakeholders to maximize the velocity and impact of your contributions.
You will work closely with talented peers to lead the development of novel algorithms and modeling techniques to advance the state of the art with LLMs.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONSTo be successful in this role, you will need:
- A PhD, or Master's degree and 6+ years of applied research experience.
- 3+ years of building machine learning models for business application experience.
- Experience programming in Java, C++, Python, or related languages.
- Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning.
We are also looking for candidates with:
- PhD in Computer Sciences, Electrical Engineering, or Mathematics with specialization in machine learning or natural language processing.
- 4+ years experience in building conversational AI and/or natural language processing systems.
- Publications at peer-reviewed NLP/ML conferences.
- Scientific thinking and the ability to invent, a track record of thought leadership and contributions that have advanced the field.
Amazon offers a competitive salary range of $250,000 - $350,000 per year, based on qualifications and experience. Additionally, you will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k) matching, and paid time off.
