Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced CT Technologist II to join our team at UNC Medical Center. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the advancement of medical imaging technology.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct complex CT procedures and tests to acquire and analyze patient diagnostic data, working collaboratively with various teams to obtain necessary imaging for advanced diagnoses.
  • Assist radiologists in performing high-risk invasive diagnostic techniques, such as needle biopsies and CT-guided joint injections, while demonstrating competence in adjusting scan parameters to minimize radiation dosage.
  • Evaluate patient contraindications, notify care teams, and coordinate appropriate care prior to patient arrival, when possible.
  • Perform CTA perfusion, Code IA/Stroke/Bat, Red Trauma Series, Yellow Trauma Series, ROSC, and Portable CT procedures, as defined by procedure and/or physician.
  • Recognize diagnostic characteristics of normal and abnormal scans, anatomy, and questionable findings, alerting radiologists for escalation of and/or additional care.
  • Manipulate parameters for CT Gated Watchman and Cardiac exams, including monitoring devices and equipment settings.
  • Analyze scan data throughout the examination to ensure comprehensive data is provided to physicians, along with notes regarding complications that may have impacted quality of scan/images.
  • Triage care for general anesthesia (adult/pediatric) exams, provide education for care teams, and ensure optimal parameters, equipment settings, contrast administration, and post-processing of images.
  • Administer oral and rectal contrast to adult and pediatric patients according to protocols, establish intravenous lines, administer IV contrast following safe and proper injection procedures, and follow correct procedure to determine contrast eligibility.
Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited educational program in Radiological Science with an advanced registry in Computed Tomography.
  • Registration with the American Registry of Radiological Sciences or registry eligibility, with a copy of diploma from accredited program.
  • Advanced certification in CT.
  • Maintenance of registry status and continuing education requirements annually.
  • Current competency in HCP BLS.
  • Three (3) years of experience as a CT Technologist.
Work Environment

This is a full-time position with a standard schedule of 40 hours per week, with evening shifts. The salary range is $43.10 per hour, with pay offers determined by experience and internal equity.
