Job Summary

The Field Service Technician is the primary point of contact for customer service issues. This role provides customer-facing and internal customer support, including commissioning, installation, start-up, warranty, and customer-paid service. The successful candidate will play a vital role in creating long-term customer relationships, acting as a bridge between customers, products, and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical assistance and resolution for electrical problems encountered before, during, and after manufacture.
  • Assemble electrical and electronic systems and prototypes according to engineering data.
  • Install and maintain electrical control systems.
  • Modify electrical prototypes, parts, assemblies, and systems to correct functional issues.
  • Set up and operate test equipment to evaluate the performance of developmental parts, assemblies, or systems under simulated operating conditions, and record results.
  • Perform a wide variety of highly technical duties, including commissioning, start-up, and repair/refurbishment of complex and sophisticated electronic and mechanical equipment in customers' plants.
  • Instruct/train customer personnel in the correct operation of equipment.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers and other personnel to identify, interpret, define, analyze, and resolve problems.
  • Keep clear trouble-shooting records in the service database, and produce clear, complete, and accurate technical reports in a timely manner.
  • Modify and maintain PLC and HMI programs.
  • Perform remote troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and asking pertinent questions.
  • When not traveling, work in the shop performing machine wiring, machine refurbish/rebuilding.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Mechanical knowledge, including machines and tools, their design, use, repair, and maintenance.
  • Mathematical knowledge, including basic arithmetic, algebra, geometry, statistics, and their applications.
  • Production and processing knowledge, including raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of equipment.
  • Programming software knowledge, including Allen Bradley PLC, HMI, and Servo programming.
  • Ability to read and understand electronic schematics and drawings.
  • Ability to use basic hand tools.
  • Computer skills and knowledge of office software packages.
  • High level of professionalism, reacting well under pressure, treating others with respect, and following through on commitments.
  • Prior experience working with large multinational corporations.
  • Food and beverage industry experience.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, fluid environment with varied temperature conditions.
  • Willingness to travel up to 75%.
  • Able to lift up to 75lbs.
  • United States Citizen.
  • Valid Passport without travel restrictions.
  • Valid Driver's License, with no major violations within 3 years.
  • Bilingual (English & Spanish/French) is a plus.
