About the Role

AECOM is seeking a highly skilled Senior Transportation Planner - Project Manager to join our team in Arlington, VA. As a key member of our transportation planning group, you will be responsible for leading complex transportation planning projects and collaborating with clients to deliver innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze and recommend transportation system improvements based on technological change and economic, population, land use, and traffic projections
  • Develop and test new methods and models of transportation, economic, and environmental analysis
  • Communicate complex transportation technical information in clear, engaging, and creative ways to a variety of audiences
  • Collaborate with engineers to research, analyze, or resolve complex transportation design issues
  • Develop design ideas for new or improved transport infrastructure, including transit stations and alignments, pedestrian projects, bicycle facilities, complete streets, connected and autonomous vehicles, highways, and parking
  • Review development plans for transportation system effects, infrastructure requirements, and compliance with applicable transportation regulations
  • Assist or lead environmental and NEPA-related projects and tasks, including EIS, EA, and CE documentation with FTA, FRA, and FHWA as lead agencies;
  • Prepare presentation materials and facilitate meetings with client staff, agency boards, and commissions and elected officials
  • Participate in public meetings and hearings to explain planning proposals, and gather feedback from those affected by projects, or achieve consensus on project designs
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Planning, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related discipline
  • 6 years of related transit planning experience with some experiences in project management, client service management, design, and/or business development activities or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Some experience with local and/or federal funding and project development requirements
  • Experience in proposal development
  • Experience collaborating with operations, project, and marketing and other staff of all levels
  • Experience collaborating across disciplines and business lines for integrated delivery and growth
  • Valid Drivers License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review
