Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Counselor I/Employment Specialist to join our team at the Aiken-Barnwell Mental Health Center. As a key member of our supported employment program, you will play a vital role in assisting patients in obtaining and maintaining competitive employment that is consistent with their vocational goals and recovery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a direct service time (direct clinical services to patients) and ensure caseload meets supported employment fidelity requirements.
  • Provide only employment services to assigned caseload and ensure fidelity of model.
  • Directly place clients in diverse and different competitive employment based on patient's preferences, strengths, abilities, and needs.
  • Assist in job development in local community by providing education and support to employers.
  • Carry out all phases of employment service including intake, assessment, job placement, job coaching, and follow-along supports.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma and relevant human services or social services experience.
  • A bachelor's degree and one (1) year of experience in counseling and/or behavior modification program experience.
  • Preferred qualifications include one year post graduate experience in counseling and/or behavior modification program, knowledge of intensive in-home or community services model, understanding of abnormal psychology and treatment, and bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language).
