As an Occupational Therapy Assistant, you will play a vital role in assisting patients/residents/clients with therapy activities and exercises scheduled in a treatment plan, under the supervision of an occupational therapist. Your goal will be to improve patients'/residents'/clients' quality of life and ability to perform daily activities.
Responsibilities- Assist patients/residents/clients with therapy activities and exercises scheduled in a treatment plan, under the supervision of an occupational therapist.
- Provide, monitor, and record therapy services to patients/residents/clients with physical, cognitive, developmental, and psychosocial impairments.
- Select, implement, and make modifications to therapeutic activities and interventions that are consistent with demonstrated competency levels, patient's/resident's/client's goals, and the requirements of the practice setting and/or state licensure.
- Contribute to the process by exchanging information with and providing documentation to the occupational therapist about the patient's/resident's/client's responses to and communications during intervention.
- Responsible for being knowledgeable about the patient's/resident's/client's targeted occupational therapy outcomes and for providing information and documentation related to outcome achievement.
- Appropriate education level required in accordance with state licensure.
- Licensed as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state(s) of practice.
- When working at a Sanford Health Facility (not required but preferred for GSS Facilities): Certified as an Occupational Therapy Assistant through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
- Conforms to the supervision and licensing standards of the state(s) where services are provided.
- When applicable, may require valid driver's license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within six months of employment.
