GBV Community Advocate

YWCA Seattle | King | Snohomish is seeking a dedicated and compassionate GBV Community Advocate to join our team in South King County, WA. As a key member of our Gender Based Violence Services team, you will provide culturally relevant support to adult survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and commercial sexual exploitation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide trauma-informed advocacy to adult survivors, including support with protection orders, family law, CPS, housing navigation, safety planning, and life skills.
- Use a model of best practice trauma-informed advocacy with a strength-based approach.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community partners and attend community meetings.
- Facilitate and create presentations for associated partners and offer services.
- Provide support group facilitation and healing circle.
- Engage in community networking activities to increase access to services for survivors furthest away from opportunity, specifically Black and African American survivors.
- Maintain 20 hours of continued education hours about advocacy-based Domestic Violence.
- Actively engage in agency-wide Race and Social Justice Initiative (RSJI) and strive for racially equitable outcomes.
Requirements:
- Strong orientation and familiarity toward system navigating multiple systems (i.e., municipal, superior courts, legal systems, and law enforcement).
- One year of direct social service experience or translatable lived experience in lieu of a social services degree.
- Experience working with survivors from marginalized communities, specifically African American communities.
- Knowledgeable about gender-based violence, such as sexual assault, domestic violence, intimate partner violence, and human trafficking.
- Skilled at using Microsoft office suite including Outlook, Calendar, Teams, and Excel.
