Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement game strategies and techniques to prepare student athletes for athletic competition
  • Provide guidance and support to student athletes, including individual and team coaching
  • Promote a positive and inclusive team culture, fostering a sense of community and teamwork among players, coaches, and staff
  • Communicate effectively with players, coaches, and staff, providing clear instructions and feedback
  • Attend meetings and events as required, including team meetings, practices, and games
  • Comply with all policies and procedures outlined in the NYS Commissioners regulations, NYSPHSAA Section VI and BPS Interscholastic Athletic Handbook
Requirements
  • Experience in organized basketball at the club, select, modified, junior varsity, varsity or college level preferred
  • Effective coaching techniques and skills, including knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students
  • Employed by the Board of Education in accordance with Article XII-G of the Master Contract between the Buffalo Board of Education and the Buffalo Teachers Federation
Working Conditions

The Coach will work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with frequent interactions with students, coaches, and staff. The Coach will be required to attend meetings, practices, and games, and will be expected to be available for contests and practices at the start of the athletic season, Monday through Saturday and some holidays.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position will be as per the current BTF contract. The Buffalo Public Schools offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
