Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Police Support Technician to join our team at the Josephine County Sheriff's Office. As a key member of our Records, Jail, or Civil Section, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of administrative duties, including researching and summarizing information, completing reports, and implementing office procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service to the public, responding to inquiries and directing them to relevant resources.
  • Prepare and process various documents, including correspondence, reports, and forms, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Manage and maintain accurate records, including data entry and retrieval, using our computerized system.
  • Process applications for concealed weapons and explosives permits, conducting thorough background checks.
  • Operate a variety of office equipment, including computers, printers, and recording machines.
  • Interpret and enter complex court orders into our data storage system, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Organize and distribute legal documents and reports to criminal justice agencies.
  • Accurately compute confinement time for incarcerated individuals, including state good time and work time.
  • Develop a working knowledge of criminal and civil law, staying up-to-date on current changes and trends.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • An associate's degree in office administration or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Four years of progressively responsible secretarial and/or administrative experience, or five years of experience with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a high-intensity environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • A working knowledge of law enforcement procedures and terminology, with the ability to learn and adapt quickly.
