Job Summary

As a Sustaining Engineering Manager at Synectics Inc, you will be responsible for overseeing the ongoing production efforts of our product lines. This includes approving product shipments, adjusting test limits, and resolving technical issues that may arise during production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage ongoing production efforts, including approval of product shipments and adjustment of test limits.
  • Implement a system for organizing, tracking, and communicating sustaining engineering activities.
  • Generate weekly reports for management summarizing production issues and other key metrics.
  • Work with NPI engineering and factories to ensure a smooth transition of development projects into production.
  • Lead company configuration control/PLM activities, including modifications to design packages.
  • Build and maintain product definitions for new product development projects in our PLM system.
  • Assist with NPI activities, including providing strategic input on requirements definitions and lab testing of prototype units.
  • Lead all company UL activities, including management of new projects and ongoing projects.
  • Resolve ongoing factory UL production issues and assist factory efforts in completing UL projects.
  • Provide technical leadership to the customer service team to assist in resolving RMA issues.
  • Execute and cross-train others in the engineering portion of the RMA process.
  • Maintain Company's environmental compliance certification documents, including REACH and RoHS.
  • Ensure factory compliance documents are obtained to support Company's environmental compliance statements.
  • Manage extended product life testing activities for ongoing production products and new product development.
  • Manage continuous improvement initiatives, cost saving projects, and supplier evaluations.
  • Identify potential suppliers of components and equipment to support the growing needs of the business.
Qualifications
  • BSEE Degree
  • Extensive experience with development, testing, and manufacturing of complex electronic products.
  • Experience managing an engineering lab using industry standard organization practices.
  • Experience in the engineering of LED drivers and lighting fixture systems.
  • Working understanding of discreet LEDs, LED modules, and their operating characteristics.
  • Experience with PLM systems, preferably Arena.
  • Experience negotiating with suppliers.
  • Experience executing projects with UL and negotiating their pricing and fees.
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with spreadsheets, presentations, and reports, and complex PLM and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Teams, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience organizing and leading small engineering teams.
  • Willingness to work flexibly in a small business environment and help with unique and time-sensitive projects outside regular duties.
