Job Title: CNC Machine Setup and Operation Specialist

United Gear & Assembly is seeking a skilled CNC Machine Setup and Operation Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for setting up and operating various CNC machines to perform operations on lathes, mills, drills, grinders, turning, shapers, broach, and hobs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Read and interpret process sheets, blueprints, and sketches to determine machining requirements and specifications.
  • Meet or exceed pieces per hour rate as indicated on working documents.
  • Verify accuracy of move tickets, drawings, job breakdown sheets, and quality documents.
  • Load and unload workpieces between centers, in chuck, or to faceplate, manually or using a hoist.
  • Install preset tooling in tool posts, turrets, or indexing heads, and automatic-tool-change magazine, in sequence specified on process sheets.
  • Operate CNC machines to perform various machining operations.
  • Inspect first-run pieces and spot-check succeeding pieces for conformance to specifications, using specified measuring instruments.
  • Record necessary SPC data and complete labor and production reporting.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on machines and maintain cleanliness of work areas.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED required.
  • 5 years of experience in CNC machine setup and operation preferred.
  • Strong reading, writing, oral communication, and arithmetic skills required.
  • Computer literate with ability to learn new manufacturing software applications.
  • Microsoft Office Professional, Word, Excel, statistical, and manufacturer software a plus.
