We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mammography Technologist to join our team at Advocate Health. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging team, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the delivery of exceptional patient experiences.
Responsibilities- Perform screening and diagnostic mammograms on physician-referred patients, adhering to established clinical protocols and regulatory guidelines.
- Deliver patient care in accordance with department and hospital standards, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for patients.
- Accurately label and identify all images, applying radiation protection to patients in accordance with accepted radiation standards.
- Document patient history and clinical information using appropriate forms and databases.
- Participate in advanced mammographic procedures, such as wire localizations, galactograms, stereotactic biopsy, and specimen radiographs.
- Provide pre- and post-procedure education and instruction to patients, addressing their needs and requirements.
- Transport specimens to pathology and perform mammography equipment and processing QA testing in accordance with MQSA quality control and assurance standards.
- Participate in promoting education on breast health awareness and the mammography process, collaborating with the College of Dupage Mammography Program and Mammography Sub-Committee.
- Graduate of an AMA-approved program in Radiologic Technology or a Mammography certified program.
- Knowledge of breast anatomy and the ability to recognize patients experiencing fear or anxiety.
- Ability to handle anxious and fearful patients, demonstrating technical skills as a radiographer and knowledge of quality control.
- Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) and IDNS License.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance and use patient handling equipment when necessary.
This position requires a flexible and adaptable individual who can thrive in a rapidly changing environment and growing patient volume. The successful candidate will be able to maintain professional decorum, adhere to dress code requirements, and comply with mandatory inservices for Fire Safety, MRI Safety, and Universal Precautions.
