Job Summary

This role is responsible for promoting and safeguarding the community property and assets against fire, theft, vandalism, and unauthorized entry while meeting and/or exceeding service standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet residents and visitors, ensuring a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
  • Screen residents, family, visitors, and staff to maintain a secure environment.
  • Provide assistance and directions to residents and visitors.
  • Maintain the reception area and desk in a neat and organized manner.
  • Support other directors as directed by the supervisor.
  • Answer phones and respond to messages in a timely and professional manner.
  • Conduct regular safety and security inspections of community property, including common areas, resident corridors, parking areas, and perimeter access.
  • Patrol community buildings and grounds as scheduled, recording inspection times at watch stations.
  • Verify that doors, windows, and gates are secure to prevent unauthorized access.
  • Monitor community property to prevent and detect activity in violation of criminal, fire, or safety codes.
  • Report irregularities, such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unsecured.
  • Investigate and report all acts of unlawful or safety hazards that endanger persons or property.
  • Investigate incidents and suspicious occurrences, filing incident reports as necessary.
  • Respond to security calls and complaints, taking necessary action and handling on-scene emergencies until relieved by a supervisor.
  • Inspect and report damaged or defective equipment, machinery, and property.
  • Secure and unlock areas and buildings in accordance with policy and community expectations.
  • Notify appropriate agencies in situations requiring emergency response and support.
  • Sound alarms and/or call the fire department in case of fire or unauthorized presence.
  • Assist in emergency response procedures as per community policy.
  • Ensure outdoor furniture or fixtures are secure during inclement weather.
  • Collect and remove trash.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or one to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • One year of job-related experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the primary language of the residents.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must demonstrate an interest in working with a senior population.
  • Interacts with guests, residents, and staff in a courteous and friendly manner.
