  • Oversees a portfolio of current clients, enhancing relationships to foster customer satisfaction and trust in American Bank & Trust. Engages with applicants or creditors to clarify inquiries and negotiate terms.
  • Mentors and develops team members, including creating career development plans. Establishes objectives and assesses the performance of direct reports. Cultivates a workplace culture marked by collaboration and high morale, ensuring effective communication across all divisions and locations. Regularly shares goals and outcomes.
  • Actively participates in business expansion initiatives.
  • Enhances new and existing client relationships by cross-selling essential deposit and fee income products/services as dictated by customer needs.
  • Ensures the quality of the loan portfolio within the designated market. Reviews delinquency reports with relevant Ag & Business Bankers to implement appropriate strategies for managing credit risk. Remains informed and addresses operational and lending challenges as necessary.
  • Facilitates negotiations with both new and existing clients in accordance with established standards, including fees, loan repayment options, and other credit terms. Refers and/or presents credit proposals to the loan committee for approval beyond individual loan authority. Guarantees that loan agreements are complete and accurate per policy. Ensures timely loan closing and funding processes, maintaining updated loan documentation and files.
  • Seeks networking opportunities with valuable third-party associates and potential clients through community engagement, professional organizations, educational workshops, charitable organizations, and economic development groups. Networking is encouraged during social events, provided a high level of professionalism is maintained. Utilizes LinkedIn and other approved social media platforms for networking, which can support business development.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Represents American Bank & Trust in industry and professional associations, community organizations, and local business groups, promoting a positive image of the Bank.
  • Timely collection of overdue accounts in accordance with bank procedures. Develops and negotiates revised loan repayment terms as necessary.
  • Maintains knowledge of guaranteed government loan programs and other conventional financing options available to customers.
  • Ensures compliance with bank policies and procedures as well as federal and state regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

ROLE QUALIFICATIONS:

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Specialized training in accounting, finance, and economics, along with additional bank-related training.
  • Formal credit training is a plus.
Experience
  • A minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience in commercial and agricultural lending and credit analysis within a financial institution.
  • A minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience.

PERFORMANCE MEASURES:

  • Maintains or exceeds a business and agricultural loan portfolio of $15 million.
  • Maintains or exceeds a branch deposit portfolio of $60 million and a loan portfolio of $35 million.
  • Proactively develops Commercial DDA business.
  • Actively promotes business for American Bank & Trust.
  • Keeps past due loans at 0.50% or below.
  • Annual losses do not exceed 0.10% of the branch loan portfolio.
WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is primarily conducted within the Bank with minimal risk of personal injury. Prolonged mental and visual concentration is required. Occasional stressful situations may arise due to multiple priorities and deadlines. Standard working hours are during regular business hours, with potential evening and weekend work necessary to meet customer and employee needs. Travel may be required, including overnight stays. Some lifting and moving of office supplies and equipment up to 20 pounds may be necessary, along with some bending and twisting.
