Position Overview:
The role of the Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in a PRN capacity is crucial for delivering high-quality patient care within the hospital setting. This position is responsible for executing patient care responsibilities and other functions as permitted by licensure and outlined in relevant Credentialing and Privileging documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
The APP will:
- Deliver exceptional patient care through proficient clinical practices.
- Educate patients, their families, and clinical staff on health-related topics.
- Consult with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices for optimal patient outcomes.
Clinical Duties:
The APP will be accountable for:
- Conducting thorough patient assessments to gather complete clinical information.
- Ordering necessary tests and examinations to inform patient care.
- Diagnosing patient needs and formulating effective care plans.
- Providing treatment and overseeing care provided by other healthcare staff.
- Documenting clinical care accurately and in a timely manner.
Educational Responsibilities:
The APP will:
- Facilitate educational sessions for patients and their families to enhance understanding of health conditions.
- Train clinical staff and mentor students to promote safe and effective patient care.
- Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with healthcare trends.
Collaboration and Consultation:
The APP will:
- Coordinate patient care efforts with interdisciplinary teams.
- Communicate clinical information effectively to ensure continuity of care.
- Participate in collaborative practice to enhance patient outcomes.
Research and Development:
The APP may engage in research initiatives and apply evidence-based practices to improve patient care protocols and standards.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
- A current state license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN).
- Certification as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Eligibility for State Controlled Substance License and Federal DEA Certificate.
- BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers.
- Additional certifications as required (e.g., ACLS, PALS).
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degrees and relevant certifications from recognized organizations are preferred.
Physical Requirements:
The role requires:
- Visual acuity to assess patient needs and operate medical equipment.
- Effective communication skills for interaction with patients and healthcare teams.
- Manual dexterity for handling delicate medical instruments.
- The ability to lift and move patients and equipment as necessary.
