Orleans Public Defenders is seeking a skilled Communications and Development Coordinator to manage our public communications and development efforts.

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Deputy CAO and Communications Director, the Communications and Development Coordinator will craft and coordinate external communications and development efforts to further OPD's mission and vision. This includes proactive and reactive interaction with the media, managing social media, website and newsletter management, creation of digital and print materials, and comprehensive grants management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective communications strategies to increase OPD's visibility and further the public's understanding of public defense and an equitable justice system.
  • Manage social media platforms, create engaging content, and respond to online inquiries.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Director to develop and implement a comprehensive communications plan.
  • Research and write grant proposals, reports, and other development materials.
  • Manage donor and grant databases, track donations, and provide regular reports to the Communications Director.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of two years of communications and/or fundraising and development experience in the nonprofit, legal, or government sector.
  • Knowledge and understanding of social media and nontraditional marketing, including creation of original social media content.
  • Commitment to equity and social justice essential.
