Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Fuel Transport Driver to join our team at Pico Propane. The successful candidate will be responsible for loading, transporting, and delivering refined fuels using a tanker truck with a 11,400-gallon capacity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Comply with all city, state, and federal regulations related to transportation and hazmat handling.
  • Load, secure, transport, deliver, and unload product in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Perform pre- and post-trip inspections on equipment used for the transportation of hazardous materials.
  • Plan and accomplish operational assignments that are varied and moderately complex to complex.
  • Gauge tank volumes and test product quality and specifications of bulk petroleum products while transporting from a variety of locations.
  • Maintain the operational efficiency of vehicles by monitoring truck maintenance needs, conducting minor repairs, and conducting daily DOT truck inspections to ensure maximum vehicle safety.
  • Maintain and complete accurate records by documenting truck inspections, hours of service, product transported, and miles driven.
  • Ensure that delivery vehicle receives service according to maintenance schedule; report larger service needs and mechanical issues to supervisor.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Class A CDL license with tanker and hazmat endorsements required.
  • Must meet all DOT requirements.
  • Ability to obtain Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC).
  • No more than 1 moving violation in the previous 2 years.
  • 3+ years tractor and trailer experience in propane and/or fuel distribution (preferred).
  • 1+ years tanker experience within the last 5 years.
Physical, Mental, and Behavioral Requirements

The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by the incumbent to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Position requires the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to heavy weights of 10 to 80 lbs. for approximately 90% of the work shift.

Ability to regularly climb in and out of a commercial motor vehicle, multiple times per work shift.

Good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp and visual acuity to operate equipment is required, including at night.

Frequent sitting, reaching with hands and arms.

Must be able to speak and hear.

Position is subject to pre-hire DOT medical certification requirements and drug and/or alcohol testing, as well as a physical abilities test performed by a company provider.

Must pass the pre-employment screening.

Position may require working evening hours and weekends as needed.
