Job Summary:

The Patient Service Representative plays a vital role in providing exceptional patient experiences by delivering comprehensive business, financial, and appointment-related services. This includes visit preparation, patient arrival and departure functions, payment processing, and creating a positive patient experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with patients and families by greeting and responding to their inquiries and requests.
  • Perform point-of-service activities, such as visit preparation, co-pay collection, patient tracking, and other duties, as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Schedule patient visits or diagnostic testing using hospital procedures and resources.
  • Manage third-party payors and collect co-pays.
  • Ensure the smooth operation of the office by prioritizing tasks, anticipating needs, and meeting deadlines.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including the waiting room.
  • Participate in clerical and administrative cross-coverage efforts as needed.
  • Ensure HIPAA compliance is followed.

Requirements:

  • Experience working in a general office setting, preferably in a healthcare environment.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and computerized scheduling systems is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, physicians, and staff.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office or similar software is required.

Education and Experience:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Relevant experience in a clerical or administrative role is preferred.
