Job Title: Victim Advocate

Job Summary:

The Domestic Violence Shelter is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Victim Advocate to provide support and advocacy services to survivors of domestic violence. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in creating a safe and supportive environment for our clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide crisis intervention and support to survivors of domestic violence
  • Manage crisis calls and determine eligibility for shelter services
  • Maintain daily operations of the shelter, including household tasks and cleaning
  • Assist with hospital visits for SANE exams and provide rotating on-call support
  • Complete all required shift documentation and maintain client observation records
  • Support survivors with daily living tasks and assist with donation management
  • Collaborate with program staff to complete client goals and participate in quality assurance efforts

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Human Services, Sociology, or related field
  • Previous experience in the field of domestic violence or sexual assault
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work under pressure
  • Ability to work varied shifts, including overnight and on-call requirements

Working Conditions:

The Domestic Violence Shelter is a fast-paced and dynamic environment. As a Victim Advocate, you will be required to work in a team setting, maintain confidentiality, and handle sensitive information. You must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and work in a physically demanding environment.
