As the Product Policy Risk Manager focused on Trust and Safety, you will be instrumental in evaluating the implications of new product features and formulating policies to guarantee their secure and responsible implementation. You will collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to grasp forthcoming features, foresee potential misuses or unintended effects, and devise policies that harmonize innovation with accountability. Your contributions will be vital in upholding Anthropic's dedication to safe and beneficial AI as we broaden our product offerings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and uphold risk assessment frameworks to identify and analyze potential safety risks linked to new product features and functionalities.
- Formulate detailed policies and guidelines to address and mitigate identified risks associated with new product launches and enhanced model capabilities.
- Work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including product and engineering teams, as well as the broader Trust and Safety team, to leverage extensive policy, enforcement, and engineering expertise.

- Develop policy recommendations that balance the promotion of innovation with the assurance of responsible AI deployment.
- Collaborate with the Trust and Safety enforcement team to create clear guidelines for the implementation of new policies related to product features.
- Stay informed about industry trends and emerging risks in AI development to proactively tackle potential challenges.
- Contribute to regular reports on product policy risks and mitigations for senior leadership.
- Educate and align internal stakeholders on our product policies and overall approach to responsible AI development.
- Possess a solid understanding of Trust and Safety policies and safety considerations across various product surfaces.
- Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Have experience conducting risk evaluations of innovative products in dynamic organizations.
- Demonstrate expertise in collaborating with product and engineering teams to integrate safety considerations into product development.
- Are familiar with AI ethics, responsible AI principles, and current discussions surrounding AI safety and governance.
- Can think creatively about potential misuses of technology and devise innovative solutions to mitigate risks.
- Have demonstrated strong project management skills, with the ability to guide policy development processes from ideation to execution.
