Responsibilities
  • Administer medications from physicians' orders
  • Maintain medication records and report adverse reactions or contraindications to the physician or County Health Nurse
  • Manage and provide health room services, including first aid and CPR
  • Perform medical procedures ordered by students' physicians
  • Provide guidance and counseling in the area of health to students, staff, and parents
  • Maintain accurate nurse's notes and records
  • Report all cases of diagnosed or suspected communicable disease to the County Health Nurse
  • Maintain an inventory of health room supplies
  • Report environmental conditions that may adversely affect the safety and health of students and staff
Requirements
  • Graduate of a diploma, program, holding an associate degree or baccalaureate degree in nursing
  • Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Maryland
  • Prior experience as a school nurse preferred
  • Valid Maryland driver's license
  • Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification
