Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Intermediate Critical Care (Full-Time Nights)

Position Details:
As a Registered Nurse in our Medical Intermediate Critical Care Unit, you will be part of a cutting-edge 29-bed inpatient unit dedicated to delivering patient-centered family care to diverse populations, including adolescents, adults, and seniors.

Unit Mission:
The goal of our unit is to offer exceptional quality care to patients requiring a higher level of medical attention without the need for intensive care. We emphasize a nursing model that prioritizes exceptional care delivery, with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:3-4.

Patient Care Focus:
Nurses in this unit will manage a wide range of patient needs, including:
  • Neurological conditions
  • Medical and advanced pulmonary care
  • Post-surgical recovery
  • Trauma and orthopedic care
  • Gastrointestinal and metabolic issues
  • Continuous cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring
Our approach is multidisciplinary, ensuring comprehensive care tailored to each patient's requirements.

Responsibilities:
As a registered professional nurse, you will:
  • Assess, implement, and evaluate total nursing care for a designated group of patients.
  • Collaborate effectively with other departments to ensure seamless continuity of care.

Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Valid Texas RN License or Eligible Compact License.
  • Current BLS & ACLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • BSN required or must be obtained within three years of hire.
  • PCCN Certification preferred but not mandatory.

Orientation and Training:
New hires will undergo:
  • UMC Hospital Orientation & Nursing Orientation.
  • ANCC PTAP accredited Nurse Residency Program.
  • Unit-specific orientation as determined by the hiring department.
  • Individualized orientation length based on experience.
  • Galen E-learning Curriculum Modules / Online Nursing Competency.
