Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Radiologic Technologist to join our team at Northwest Community Hospital. As a key member of our Radiology Department, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic procedures in the operating room, including surgical diagnostic procedures and other diagnostic x-ray procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform all types of diagnostic procedures with a strong emphasis on surgical diagnostic procedure examinations using a c-arm, including but not limited to Cholangiograms, hip pinnings, femoral roddings, retrogrades, pace maker implants, cystoscopy, bronchoscopy, femoral bypass, O-Arm and Pain Management.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to assess, treat, and care for all age groups of patients (neonatal through geriatric); implement assessment/treatment/care based on the developmental stages of the patient.
  • Participate in ensuring aseptic conditions are maintained in the Surgical room during the examination process; clean all radiographic equipment after each patient.
  • Process images and check for proper quality.
  • Report any diagnostic equipment in surgery malfunctions to the appropriate supervisor as well as able to place service request.
  • Assist in maintaining adequate levels of supplies in work areas.
  • Supervise activities of students assigned to surgical work area and assist in appropriate training of students.
  • Participate in 'on-call' rotation schedule.
  • Schedule exams and maintain quality of services in the Surgery area in the absence of the Primary Lead Surgical Technologist.
  • Assume responsibility for own professional growth by attending Continuing Education classes, seminars, and reading professional journals.
  • Adhere to all Northwest Community Hospital standards, policies and procedures.
  • Able to work Holidays as well as take Holiday call.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program required.
  • Current ARRT registration with certification in Radiography and Illinois Emergency Management Agency, Dept of Nuclear Safety accreditation (IEMA) required.
  • One year experience as a general radiographer with operating room experience.
  • Current CPR certification required from American Heart Association.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience in the correct use of body mechanics.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform numerous radiographic examinations in OR.
  • The interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with patients and who may be anxious or confused and to interact with surgeons and other hospital staff.
  • The analytical ability to determine proper patient positioning and to determine quality of exams performed.
  • The communication skills necessary to inform patients regarding examination procedures and discuss procedure requirement with surgeons.
  • The ability to maintain a flexible work schedule which includes accommodating patients past scheduled work hours.
  • The ability to use a computer to perform the representative functions and competencies of the job as defined by the Radiology Department.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
