Job Summary

The Procurement Specialist will coordinate activities involved with procuring goods and services such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, and advertising. This position will follow through with rejected materials and supplies and support production needs at the new job level. The successful candidate will focus on inventory levels, cost controls, quality, and on-time deliveries for the company by performing the following duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate multiple MRP reports for scheduling of raw materials, coordinate and schedule delivery with suppliers, and provide suppliers with proper specifications, blueprints, and shipping instructions.
  • Manage the expeditious procurement of commodities assigned, monitor that materials are delivered within the established time frame with required documentation, at the predetermined price, and are of acceptable quality as required by the component specification.
  • Escalate to management any potential line disruptions and work to prevent material-related line down situations.
  • Work with the Supply Chain team to determine material requirements, create purchase orders/blanket purchase orders, create customer orders, KanBan releases, expedite, and de-expedite material as required. Complete all these tasks in a manner that supports the company's goal to satisfy on-time delivery targets, increase inventory turns, and reduce inventory dollars.
  • Assist in maintaining the KanBan system and PFEP process and auditing.
  • Enter and maintain the ERP system with supplier pricing information, delivery dates, etc.
  • Approve suppliers based on company-defined qualifications, maintain and update the quality file system against supplier surveys, specification acceptance, and quote packages.
  • Participate in Supply Chain activities, managing the purchasing systems and functions for defective and discrepant materials, disposition materials, and contact suppliers for resolution.
  • Seek out the best possible sources of supply based on price, quantity, service, and reliability. May visit vendor facilities to aid in the establishment of the most suitable sources of supply. Place special or rush orders.
  • Oversee the flow of MRO purchases, generate annual contracts for specified products such as office needs, miscellaneous production supplies, and maintenance agreements.
  • Conduct studies and analyses on areas of potential savings or increased efficiency. Develop the most economical order quantities and inventory levels of raw materials. Prepare reports and/or make presentations to effectively institute change when necessary in accordance with company policies.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for the Supply Chain Department.
  • Travel to suppliers as needed while fulfilling this position's responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate the company's core values of honesty, integrity, and respect.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university.
  • MBA preferred.
