Position Overview & Responsibilities

The Senior Software Quality Assurance Engineer will be instrumental in the advancement of a Class III implantable Neuromodulation system for pain management. This role involves collaborating across various functions to ensure the verification of firmware, software applications, and entire systems, aligning all stakeholders while meeting requirements and user needs.

  • Design, develop, update, execute, and troubleshoot firmware, software, and/or system tests (manual, interactive, automated) while maintaining testing metrics.
  • Lead and refine system, sub-system, and module verification and validation initiatives to guarantee comprehensive system coverage and proper tracing.
  • Review and assess product requirements for accuracy, completeness, and testability, and analyze and allocate a set of requirements into a suitable set of verification tests.
  • Engage in cross-functional reviews of test protocol development (test strategy, test design, test code).
  • Conduct hands-on system integration testing and troubleshoot technical issues, collaborating with developers to identify root causes and viable solutions, document issues encountered, and verify resolutions of software defects.
  • Execute regression, dry, and formal verification runs for multiple firmware and software releases at appropriate stages in the development cycle.
  • Monitor defects and validate bug fixes.
  • Manage technical documentation including engineering reports, verification plans, procedures, and validation plans and reports.
  • Develop and validate software and hardware-based tools to facilitate development and testing.
  • Evaluate new testing technologies through state-of-the-art reviews or proof of concept work, communicating assessment results to the development team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Systems/Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field. Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • 2-5+ years of experience in development, verification, and software testing within the medical device sector (preferably Class III medical devices).
Skills & Expertise
  • Proficient in Systems Engineering related to stakeholder needs definition, creation of use case workflows, requirements definition and decomposition, functional architecture, and system design.
  • Experience in mobile application testing.
  • Familiarity with RF communications systems and active implantable systems.
  • Proficient in scripting with high-level programming languages such as Python or PHP.
  • Experience in writing scripts for automating testing of both backend and frontend applications.
  • Strong understanding of REST and demonstrated experience with web services API testing and automation.
  • Knowledge of C and familiarity with embedded firmware.
  • Proficient in C# [.NET] or equivalent development tools for creating automated tests.
  • Experience with requirements management software such as Jama.
  • Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, power supplies, and standard laboratory equipment.
  • Experience using bug-tracking software like Jira.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce.
  • Knowledge of digital health products and standards.
  • Working knowledge of IEC 60601, ISO 14708, and IEC 62304.
  • Experience with risk management (risk analysis, FMEA, ISO).
  • Able to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Creative problem-solving skills for complex issues without known solutions.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (both written and verbal).
  • Proven track record of collaboration in cross-functional teams.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
Compensation & Benefits

The target pay range for this position is $116,900 - $150,738. The final salary offer will be determined based on various factors, including education, experience, knowledge, skills, internal equity, market alignment, and geographic considerations. Nevro, as a multi-state employer, may adjust the target pay range based on location.
