Job Summary

As a key member of the City of South Fulton team, the Facilities Services Manager will oversee the maintenance and upkeep of city-owned facilities and sites. This role involves coordinating operational facility service activities, prioritizing and assigning work, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate building inspections to identify proactive maintenance, preventive maintenance, and repair work on building systems, equipment, and devices.
  • Oversee office and departmental relocations, including furniture, fixtures, and equipment installation and removal.
  • Manage the procurement and installation of furniture, fixtures, and equipment for new, existing, and leased facilities and offices.
  • Ensure the maintenance and upkeep of grounds for city-owned facilities and sites, including lawns, landscapes, detention ponds, exterior security measures, drainage systems, exterior lighting, and parking lots.
  • Review contract specifications and cost estimates, and make recommendations for service contracts.
  • Communicate with department heads, appointing authorities, administrators, and staff to ensure building support and aesthetic needs are met.
  • Manage department budget, prepare assigned area budget, and monitor and approve expenditures to ensure compliance.
  • Organize, prioritize, and assign work to ensure short-term and long-term objectives are met.
  • Maintain records, files, reports, and correspondence concerning facility operations activity, labor utilization, and equipment conditions.
  • Supervise, direct, and evaluate building and grounds operations and assigned staff.
  • Verify compliance with all local, state, and federal laws, rules, and standards governing building maintenance operations.
Requirements
  • Associate degree in a related field, such as building and facilities management, architecture, engineering, management, or construction management.
  • Five years of experience in building maintenance, including lead or supervisory experience.
  • Valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
  • Knowledge of modern office practices, methods, equipment, and standard clerical procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to problem-solve, handle confidential information, and perform computer-related and bookkeeping functions.
  • Strong communication skills, including written communication, interpersonal communication, group communication, phone skills, and electronic communication.
Working Conditions

This position involves working in indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to building chemicals, under all weather conditions.
