Facility: The University of Iowa Health Care Medical Center Downtown is a 194-bed facility that became part of Iowa's only comprehensive academic health system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in patient care activities and the execution of nursing care plans as directed by registered nurses (RNs). Monitor and report any changes in patient conditions to nursing staff.
- Ensure patient care areas and unit supplies are checked and restocked according to unit policies.
- Maintain a clean and organized environment within the patient care setting.
- Perform all tasks in adherence to applicable regulatory standards. Stay informed through continuing education to ensure compliance with guidelines and report any breaches to management.
- Administer basic treatments, including passive range of motion exercises, simple dressing changes, and skin care.
- Conduct blood glucose meter checks and quality control checks in accordance with unit policy.
- Provide selected patient care activities under RN supervision, such as bathing, feeding, and assisting with daily living activities. Document vital signs and care activities as needed.
- Identify changes in patient conditions and communicate variances to RNs or licensed practical nurses (LPNs).
- May be responsible for patient video monitoring, ensuring continuous visual observation, redirecting patients as necessary, and reporting concerns to nursing staff.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Location: Downtown Campus
Compensation: Shift differentials for evening and night shifts.
