Position Summary

The Facility Maintenance Specialist is tasked with ensuring a clean and hygienic environment throughout the premises. This role involves utilizing cleaning equipment effectively, managing janitorial supplies, and maintaining adequate inventory levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize cleaning agents safely to sanitize and maintain the facility.
  • Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies and reorder as necessary.
  • Perform daily cleaning tasks including vacuuming carpets, sweeping and mopping floors, washing windows, scrubbing restrooms, dusting surfaces, and emptying trash receptacles.
  • Address spills promptly using appropriate cleaning tools.
  • Restock restroom supplies such as toilet paper, soap, and paper towels.
  • Maintain cleanliness in break areas and replenish supplies as needed.
  • Ensure all designated areas are kept in a neat and orderly fashion.
  • Identify and report any unsafe conditions or malfunctioning equipment.

Qualifications and Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong organizational abilities.
  • Capacity to work independently while being part of a team, managing time effectively during shifts.
  • Meticulous attention to detail in cleaning tasks.
  • Proficient in the safe operation of job-specific tools and equipment.
  • Effective verbal communication skills for interaction with colleagues.
  • Adept at interpreting and following cleaning product labels and instructions.

Experience

  • At least one year of experience in a janitorial role.
  • Experience in a light manufacturing environment is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously while being accountable for cleanliness standards.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in various settings including offices, technical labs, showrooms, and light manufacturing areas.
  • Capable of standing and walking for extended periods on both carpeted and concrete surfaces.
  • Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs, with or without assistance.
  • Ability to raise arms above shoulder height and perform rotational movements as needed.
  • Must be able to kneel, crouch, bend, and squat as required.
  • Work involves repetitive motion of hands, arms, wrists, and legs.
  • Requires hand and finger dexterity and good vision, with or without corrective lenses.
  • Must be comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with various tools and equipment.
  • Proactive in addressing cleaning needs without direct prompts.
