Position Overview:

Multi-Purpose Clerk


The Multi-Purpose Clerk may be assigned to various departments within the store, including Center Store, Produce, Meat/Seafood, Bakery/Deli, or Janitorial.

This role is essential in promoting sales within the assigned department, addressing customer inquiries, fulfilling requests for products, and accurately processing special orders.

The Clerk adheres to safe food handling procedures, ensuring a clean work environment that is organized and free from hazards.

Responsibilities include receiving, inspecting, and logging products for shipment accuracy and quality, as well as stocking, rotating, and merchandising items to maintain freshness and appeal.

Key Responsibilities:

The Multi-Purpose Clerk may be assigned to any of the following departments:

  • Center Store/Front End: Operate the checkstand in accordance with company policies, memorize PLU codes, and stay updated with new products; order, receive, unload, stock, and rotate products across all areas of center store operations; merchandise items and conduct Point-Of-Sale (POS) and inventory activities.
  • Produce: Receive, inspect, and log products for accuracy and quality; prepare produce according to company standards; stock, rotate, and merchandise items to ensure freshness; maintain the floral area; and keep all department areas clean.
  • Meat/Seafood: Receive, inspect, and log products for accuracy and quality; weigh, wrap, package, and label items for display; stock, rotate, and merchandise products; provide customer service at the seafood counter; take special orders; and maintain cleanliness in all areas.
  • Bakery/Deli: Receive, inspect, and log products; prepare, weigh, package, and label items; stock, rotate, and merchandise baked goods and deli products; take special orders; and maintain cleanliness in all areas.
  • Janitorial: Ensure cleanliness and sanitation throughout the store; perform cleaning duties in various areas; and operate janitorial equipment as needed.

Additional Duties:

  • Maintain cleanliness in all assigned areas.
  • May operate a forklift if authorized and certified.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with urgency and self-motivation.
  • Proactive, enthusiastic, and flexible approach to work.
Education:
High School Diploma (or G.E.D.) or relevant job experience.

Experience: Six months of related experience.

Physical Requirements:
Frequent standing and physical movements; ability to lift up to 40 lbs. without assistance.
