Senior Physical Safety Consultant

At BSI, we are seeking a seasoned Senior Physical Safety Consultant to join our team in the Northern California Bay Area.

This exciting role offers the opportunity to work on complex safety projects, reviewing design drawings and providing feedback on design for safety for new construction and tool installation for our clients.

You will develop and implement safety programs, including hazardous energy control, confined space, fall protection, lockout/tagout, hazard communication, Injury and Illness Prevention Programs, etc.

A key aspect of this position is working with cross-functional engineering teams to manage risk and integrate EHS into the fabric and culture of clients.

The ideal candidate will have 10-15+ years of related experience in physical safety consulting, preferably in a consulting firm. A background in semi-conductor, pharmaceuticals, and/or high-tech industries is highly valued.

Responsibilities:

  • Work on complex safety projects reviewing design drawings and providing feedback on design for safety for new construction and tool installation for our clients
  • Develop and implement safety programs including hazardous energy control, confined space, fall protection, lockout/tagout, hazard communication, Injury and Illness Prevention Programs, etc.
  • Work with cross functional engineering teams to manage risk
  • Work effectively to integrate EHS into the fabric and culture of clients. Leverage the safety and health program to build morale and increase productivity of the employees and the operation. Builds effective working relationships with onsite teams, subcontractors and vendors onsite.
  • Performs project management and internal customer management for multiple large clients and help organize staff schedules
  • Work with the business development team to participate in introductory meetings specifically with clients with safety needs as a technical expert
  • Develops opportunities, including estimating work scope and price, writing proposals, following up on contacts and meetings, writing blog posts and white papers, and participates on local association boards.

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • Overall understanding and experience in Physical Safety. Semi-Conductor, pharmaceuticals and/or high tech experience is a plus
  • Undergraduate degree in EHS or related field; Master's degree is a plus
  • 10-15 + years of related experience, preferably in a consulting firm. Safety, mechanical, or electrical engineering experience is a plus
  • Comfortable working with cross-functional business streams and executive level stakeholders
  • Ability to gather and analyze complex data groups to develop actionable solutions along with ability to present the information
  • Ability to read schematics, design plans, floor plans
  • Skills to build workable project plans that include project scope
  • Staff management skills

The salary for this position ranges from $120k to $140k annually, depending on various factors such as the candidate's competencies, level of experience, education, location, and divisional budget.
