Overview

We are seeking a skilled IT Specialist to join our team in the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation's Office of Information Technology. As an IT Specialist, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining our information technology systems.

About the Position

This position is located in the PBGC's OIT, IT Infrastructure Operations Department. The selected candidate will provide technical advice and assistance to key corporate officials regarding the assigned service(s) and negotiate with representatives of other departments within the PBGC and with the contractor to resolve questions regarding information systems and user requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide authoritative technical advice and assistance to senior management officials regarding implications of PBGC policy as related to information technology;
  • Manage changes to ensure the services and IT processes delivered by both contractor and OIT staff are in accordance with established service/operating levels;
  • Responsible for communications regarding the assigned service(s), including developing and presenting formal and informal briefings to technical, non-technical, and executive audiences;
  • Install, operate, and manage Microsoft Windows operating systems, including Active Directory Organizational Unit (OU) structure, Active Directory Certificate Services, Active Directory Federation Services, and Group Policy Objects (GPO).
Requirements

To be eligible for this position, applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the private sector installing, operating, and managing Microsoft Windows operating systems, to include but not limited to Active Directory Organizational Unit (OU) structure, Active Directory Certificate Services, Active Directory Federation Services and Group Policy Objects (GPO.) Experience must also include installing, operating and managing VMWare, including but not limited to creating virtual machines (VMs) and migrating physical servers.
