Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Library Assistant II to join our team at an elementary school. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional support to our students, teachers, and staff in the library setting. This role requires a strong commitment to delivering high-quality services, maintaining a safe and organized learning environment, and collaborating with colleagues to achieve our educational goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist students and teachers with library-related tasks, such as book checkout, research, and literacy programs.
  • Develop and implement engaging library programs and activities that promote reading, learning, and community building.
  • Maintain accurate records, inventory, and databases to ensure efficient library operations.
  • Provide technical support for library equipment and software, and troubleshoot issues as needed.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to integrate library services into curriculum and instructional plans.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in library science or related field preferred.
  • Minimum one year of general clerical experience, preferably in a library setting.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic knowledge of library software, databases, and technology.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Knowledge of standard library practices, terminologies, and procedures.
  • Basic reference sources and materials.
  • Inventory and record-keeping procedures.
  • Business English, spelling, punctuation, and arithmetic.
Additional Requirements
  • Mandated Reporter Training - School Personnel module completion required before first day of employment.
  • Ability to work a standard school day, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 11:30am (hours may vary).
