Role Overview:
The Foam Production Supervisor will oversee operations in our Terrell, Texas facility, focusing on areas such as incoming materials, processing, and customer service. This role is crucial in achieving our organizational goals through effective management of product, processes, and personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Performance Metrics:
    • Achieve health, safety, and environmental (HSE) budget goals.
    • Maintain budgeted scrap and material usage variance (MUV) targets.
    • Meet continuous improvement (CIP) objectives.
  2. Operational Leadership:
    • Facilitate daily SQDC meetings.
    • Provide daily production schedules.
    • Organize work assignments to ensure adequate staffing and responsiveness to workload variations.
    • Manage data entry and maintain departmental records as necessary.
  3. Collaboration:
    • Work closely with other supervisors to coordinate daily operations and address personnel matters.
    • Engage with team members and management to resolve operational challenges.
    • Coordinate with Sales and Management regarding foam production needs.
  4. Quality Assurance:
    • Monitor work processes to ensure adherence to quality standards.
    • Verify material specifications against work orders to guarantee product integrity.
    • Ensure compliance with foam testing protocols.
    • Identify and implement opportunities for quality enhancement within the department.
  5. Team Development:
    • Assess employee performance and provide constructive feedback.
    • Maintain accurate work records and reports.
    • Support team members across various roles as needed.
  6. Material Management:
    • Oversee order processing to ensure efficient material flow.
    • Inspect equipment and tools for safety compliance.
    • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment.
    • Collaborate with HR and management to address performance issues and policy violations.
  7. Production Oversight:
    • Report production changes affecting job responsibilities and safety hazards.
    • Maintain cleanliness and proactively identify safety risks in the workplace.
    • Monitor incoming material quality and order status.
    • Manage inventory levels of foam and chemicals, utilizing JD Edwards for ordering.
    • Communicate essential information to plant personnel.
    • Coordinate with Maintenance to optimize equipment use.
  8. Quality System Management:
    • Ensure all personnel are informed of quality system updates.
    • Encourage adherence to customer requirements as per standard operating procedures.
    • Address quality issues promptly to prevent shipment delays.
    • Maintain awareness of environmental impacts.
    • Participate in corrective actions for any product inconsistencies.
    • Delegate responsibilities to ensure compliance with product specifications.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Environmental Studies, Chemical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in foam production or fabrication is preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience with chemicals, demonstrating strong chemical knowledge.
  • Basic math skills and familiarity with algebra.
  • Understanding of customer service principles and quality standards.
  • General knowledge of machinery and tools.
  • Ability to follow company policies regarding recruitment and training.
  • Proficient in data extraction and compilation.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Knowledge of production processes and quality control techniques.
  • Ability to present information clearly and answer inquiries from various stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving skills and practical understanding of instructions.
  • Capability to obtain HAZMAT certification.
