Job Summary

S. T. Wooten is seeking skilled Laborers for our Heavy Grade Division. As a Laborer, you will be responsible for performing general construction tasks involving physical labor at construction projects and plants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate hand and power tools of all types, including air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, and surveying equipment.
  • Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
  • Control traffic passing near, in, and around work zones.
  • Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, and compact and level earth to grade specifications.
  • Erect and disassemble scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, and other temporary structures.
  • Load, unload building materials, machinery, and tools.
  • Mix ingredients to create compounds for covering or cleaning surfaces.
  • Learn and follow safety regulations.
  • Provide assistance to craft workers, such as carpenters, plasterers, and masons.
  • Work long, flexible hours as demanded by our customers, including nights, weekends, and work outside for extended periods during all seasons of the year.
Requirements
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Must have a good work ethic, be on time, and be dependable.
  • Minimum of 1-year experience preferred but not required.
  • Must be available to work various hours, including days, nights, and weekends.
  • Prefer experience with DOT projects.
  • Heavy Highway and erosion control experience is a plus.
  • Candidate must be willing to shovel, rake, flag traffic, and perform other physically demanding tasks.
  • Must have a clean MVR and valid driver's license with dependable transportation.
  • Potential candidate should be eager to learn and advance.
Physical Demands

The position requires heavy physical effort, including pulling and lifting or moving heavy weight material with frequent lifting or moving materials or equipment (over 80 pounds).
