OVERVIEW
The mission of the institution emphasizes the importance of teaching. Therefore, this instructional faculty role is centered around education, scholarship, and community service. Responsibilities may be adjusted based on specific course needs and other factors affecting teaching assignments. Faculty members are expected to deliver classes according to the established course outlines or directives from the instructional leadership. Each faculty member will set office hours that include standard working hours (Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM), with the possibility of evening hours when classes are scheduled. During these office hours, faculty will be available for student consultations and will fulfill departmental, divisional, and institutional commitments. Refer to the faculty handbook for minimum office hour requirements. Participation in additional events, committee meetings, professional development sessions, and ceremonies is expected outside of regular office hours or the standard workday.PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS A. Teaching:1. Prepare, supervise, and instruct in classroom settings, whether in-person, online, hybrid, or HyFlex formats, as determined by the College Administration.2. Conduct field-based or off-campus instruction as needed.3. Design, prepare, and supervise laboratory sessions related to assigned courses.4. Assess student performance through:i. Preparation, administration, timely grading, and evaluation of assignments, tests, papers, examinations, and research projects,ii. Reporting grades by the deadlines set by the Registrar;iii. Assessment and reporting of student learning outcomes at both course and program levels.5. Engage with students to provide academic support, advisement, and assistance with degree planning and registration.6. Oversee and coordinate student activities linked to the academic program.7. Innovate teaching methods and conduct teaching-oriented research to create effective learning environments.8. Select and procure instructional materials, including books and films, for classroom and laboratory use.9. Regularly evaluate library resources and recommend new acquisitions.10. Develop new courses and programs, including those utilizing web-based and technology-enhanced instruction.11. Actively participate in curriculum development, establishing program and student learning outcomes, and reporting results as required.ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS (PREFERRED FOR ADJUNCTS) A. Professional Development:1. Engage in ongoing reading and research to enhance expertise in the field.2. Attend professional development opportunities as required.3. Qualifications:

Education: Candidates must possess education relevant to the instructional assignment. Academic transfer faculty must:· Hold a master's degree or higher in Speech or Communication;
· OR: Hold a master's degree in any discipline, with 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline.

Experience: Previous college teaching experience is preferred. For technical programs, relevant job experience as outlined in faculty credential standards is required.

Security Sensitive: This position is security-sensitive and subject to applicable provisions of the Texas Education Code.

Compensation:

$800 per Credit Hour
