Job Summary: As a key member of the patient care delivery team, the Case Manager-ED utilizes clinical expertise to determine medical necessity and appropriate patient care. This role requires discretion and independent judgment in assessing the severity of illness and intensity of service. The specialist applies clinical knowledge and specialized emergency medicine case management methodologies in a tertiary care facility with level one trauma designation.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with ED physicians and staff to focus on the needs of the Loma Linda University Medical Center patient population
  • Determine medical necessity and develop effective care plans
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Associate's Degree in Nursing with six years of experience
  • Minimum three years of bedside nursing experience in a hospital setting
  • Minimum one year of case management experience preferred

Knowledge and Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of case management practice and methodologies
  • Substantial knowledge of basic nursing concepts and patient care
  • Able to communicate professionally and effectively with others
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Licensures and Certifications:

  • Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license required
