Job Summary

The Clinical Oncology Nurse Specialist provides skilled oncology nursing care to patients aged 18 and above with suspected or confirmed malignancies or hematologic disorders in the outpatient Cancer Center. This role involves utilizing discretion and independent judgment to apply the nursing process, ensuring age-specific and developmentally appropriate quality patient care.

This specialist case manages and coordinates the continuum of care from referral through the treatment process, collaborating with physicians and the multidisciplinary team. They proactively manage daily clinic activities to ensure efficiency and timely patient visits, implementing research protocols in collaboration with the research team.

The Clinical Oncology Nurse Specialist empowers the nursing profession by embracing new knowledge, innovations, and improvements in practice to enhance the patient experience and clinical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide skilled oncology nursing care to patients aged 18 and above with suspected or confirmed malignancies or hematologic disorders.
  2. Case manage and coordinate the continuum of care from referral through the treatment process.
  3. Collaborate with physicians and the multidisciplinary team to ensure efficient and timely patient visits.
  4. Implement research protocols in collaboration with the research team.
  5. Empower the nursing profession by embracing new knowledge, innovations, and improvements in practice.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (in progress acceptable).
  • Minimum one year of nursing experience required.
  • Minimum one year of oncology nursing preferred.
  • One year case management or transitional care management experience preferred.
