Position Overview:
We are currently seeking enthusiastic Chemical Engineering Interns and Co-Ops to assist with development initiatives at our production facility. This role balances hands-on laboratory work with analytical desk tasks, providing a comprehensive learning experience. Interns will collaborate closely with our skilled engineering team to enhance our photoluminescent material production processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Interns will engage in various design and development activities, including:
1. Learning and applying current synthesis and testing methods for photoluminescent materials.
2. Conducting yield analysis to identify areas for improvement and reproducibility.
3. Assisting in the development of new synthesis techniques and analytical methods, including sample preparation and data analysis.
4. Supporting the installation and operational documentation of new synthesis and analytical equipment.
5. Identifying and implementing safety measures for material handling and storage.
6. Utilizing key materials analysis techniques to characterize both manufacturing processes and finished products.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Experience in laboratory settings involving the handling of powders and liquids.
- Proficiency in microscopic examination of small specimens.
- Familiarity with materials characterization techniques such as SEM, XRD, and XPS.
- Strong attention to safety and detail, with a hands-on approach to tasks.
- Competence in using Windows-based platforms and MS Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Preferred:
- Experience with material transfer processes.
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment and safety protocols.
Education:
Candidates should be pursuing a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or Physical Chemistry, with a minimum GPA of 3.25 and at least 40 credits completed.
