Your role and responsibilities

In this position, you will have the chance to adapt and execute the sales support strategy for the assigned region, aligning with the global support framework. Daily, you will lead, mentor, and guide a team of Application Engineers, ensuring they deliver the most technically sound and cost-efficient solutions to support customer operations. You will also demonstrate your expertise by aiding sales growth in a specific country/region through defining and developing the Application team and application sales strategy. The work model for this role is remote. This position contributes to the Electrification Smart Buildings division in North America. Your primary responsibilities will include:
• Collaborating with consulting engineers, end users, and EPC clients to ascertain electrical project requirements, providing design assistance, product selection, value engineering, budgeting, and educating on ABB solutions to ensure their acceptance into project specifications.
• Analyzing and assessing project specifications and end-user customer needs to deliver electrical solutions, including one-line electrical diagrams, schematic diagrams, layout and equipment drawings, equipment specifications, and project budget pricing for critical power applications.
• Serving as the local product authority in the following areas: UPS/battery systems, power conditioning, power distribution switchgear, transfer switches, and arc flash mitigation.
• Exhibiting a strong combination of critical power systems design capability and communication skills. You must be able to convey complex concepts to a diverse audience, including engineers, account managers, contractors, and channel partners.

Qualifications for the role
  • B.S. degree in engineering; preferably electrical, with a minimum of six (6) years of experience in the electrical distribution sector, or a master's degree with four (4) years of experience in the same field.
  • PE certification is advantageous.
  • Prior field, factory, or design engineering experience in electrical power systems within data centers, hospitals, or industrial facilities.
  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards; ANSI, IEEE, NEC, NEMA, UL/CSA.
  • 25% travel required.
  • Candidates must possess work authorization that permits them to work for ABB in the US.
