About the Role

Walgreens is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacist to join our team in a multi-location setting. As a Pharmacist, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and services, while also contributing to the success of our retail and specialty pharmacy operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Experience:
    • Engage with patients to provide personalized care and services, including medication counseling and health education.
    • Model and share customer service best practices with team members to deliver a distinctive and joyful experience.
    • Connect with patients to anticipate their needs and proactively offer services, promoting the shift from transactional to interpersonal pharmacy services.
    • Participate in community outreach activities to promote the pharmacy business and enhance growth opportunities.
  • Operations:
    • Counsel patients on medication usage, side effects, interactions, and contraindications, and refer to medical providers as needed.
    • Perform pharmacist tasks, including compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, and medication management.
    • Ensure the pharmacy operates in accordance with regulations, company policies, and standards, and assist the pharmacy manager in establishing procedures for efficient workflow.
    • Maintain current knowledge of information technology associated with pharmacy systems, including workflow, prescription fulfillment, billing, clinical documentation, training, inventory management, and point of sale registers.
    • Ensure accurate processing of insurance claims to resolve patient issues and prevent payment rejections.
    • Follow up with medical providers' offices to clarify prescribed medications, dosages, refills, interactions, and allergies, and suggest alternative medications.
    • Perform clinical and wellness services, such as immunizations, diagnostic testing, disease state management, and other healthcare services.
    • Assist and support the pharmacy manager in analyzing performance data, including pharmacy financials, customer service, and implementation of procedures for pharmacy asset protection and inventory management.
  • People & Performance Management:
    • Assist the Pharmacy Manager with staff hiring and training, and reinforce the direction of Pharmacy Manager in staff performance by coaching and providing constructive feedback.
    • Promote teamwork and motivate team members by establishing expectations, monitoring and recognizing progress, and fostering a shared vision.
  • Training & Personal Development:
    • Maintain current knowledge and required licensing/credentialing/certification as established by federal and state regulations to provide such clinical services.
    • Maintain current knowledge and skills related to pharmacy and healthcare by reading pharmacy-related journals, company publications, and communications.
    • Obtain necessary certifications, education credits, and training, including learning modules, as required by the Company.
    • Seek professional development by monitoring one's performance, soliciting constructive feedback, and leveraging pharmacy manager and store manager as mentor and coach.
  • Communications:
    • Support the Pharmacy Manager and Store Manager by communicating relevant corporate health and wellness services or strategy information to pharmacy staff.
