About the Role

The State of Montana is seeking a highly skilled Paralegal 2 to join our team in Helena. As a key member of our Legal Unit, you will provide advanced paralegal functions in support of our agency's legal practice areas, including litigation support, administrative rulemaking, file and records management, and document preparation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform advanced paralegal functions, including litigation support, administrative rulemaking, file and records management, and document preparation.
  • Conduct legal research and writing, legislative bill tracking and drafting, outreach and customer relations, and creative problem-solving.
  • Collaborate with other staff to form and advance the scope of the position and take an active role in shaping the unit and its high-quality work product.
Requirements
  • Thorough understanding of legal concepts, theory, and practice, terminology, procedure, and working understanding of the State and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and local court rules.
  • Skills in the use of a personal computer, internet research, word processing, and document organization and management.
  • Team-oriented, positive, and professional attitude.
  • Superior writing and verbal communication skills, computer or automated legal research experience (LEXIS), demonstrated analytical and observational ability with the capacity to be alert, resourceful, and detail-conscious.
