Job Summary

The Baton Rouge Community College is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transportation Specialist for Mobile CTE Lab to join our team. As a key member of our Academic Affairs/Carl Perkins Division, you will be responsible for transporting the Mobile CTE Lab to regional outreach events and activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the safe operation and upkeep of the Mobile Lab and equipment.
  • Drive the mobile trailer and vehicle to and from event locations as scheduled by various College administrators, divisions, departments, and groups.
  • Plan the most effective and efficient routes to and from event locations.
  • Keep accurate written logs of vehicle mileage, operating hours, and maintenance.
  • Transport the vehicle to and from vendors when maintenance, repair, and fueling is required.
  • Maintain generator performance and battery life by connecting the vehicle to a charging station when the unit is not being used.
  • Safely operate all vehicle functions, including but not limited to on-board generator, vehicle leveling mechanism, pop-out walls, HVAC systems, Wi-Fi and data systems, and interior lighting and power.
  • Keep the interior and exterior of the vehicle clean and presentable before and after use.
  • Promptly report any performance and/or maintenance issues to the appropriate department.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma
  • Class CDL-B License holder per LA DOTD R.S. 32:408 B.(2)(a) and 405.1
  • Minimum of three-years of over-the-road experience
  • Excellent driving record with no recorded moving violations in the past four years
Preferred Qualifications
  • High School Diploma
  • Class CDL-A License holder per LA DOTD R.S. 32:408 B.(2)(b) and 405.1
Working Conditions

The Transportation Specialist for Mobile CTE Lab will work in a fast-paced environment, transporting the Mobile Lab to various locations and ensuring its safe operation and upkeep. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
