Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Monitor/Aide to join our team at First Student. As a Monitor/Aide, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe transportation of students and passengers. Your primary responsibilities will include providing operational oversight, day-to-day management, and assisting drivers in safe operation of routes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Know the route and remain alert to monitor the welfare of passengers while in route
  • Communicate behavior problems and conditions of various stops with the driver
  • Assist in pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus
  • Assist students in the loading and unloading process
  • Cooperate and communicate with school personnel, students, and parents
  • Attend all safety and training meetings
  • Conduct emergency evacuation from the bus, including use of exiting by emergency door
  • Open and close service doors and move up and down steps multiple times daily
  • Clean the inside of the bus
  • Assist driver when necessary to safely direct the vehicle backwards
Requirements
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Early morning availability
  • Judgement/problem solving skills
  • Ability to manage high degrees of stress
