Job Summary

This role is a key advocate for cloud technology and engineering support, driving the organization's next-generation technologies forward. The incumbent will work to adopt, expand, maintain, and optimize cloud usage across the organization through engineering support of cloud technologies and automation builds.

The successful candidate will own support and engineering of cloud solutions, staying current with new cloud offerings to produce expected corporate results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engineer and implement cloud-based technical architectures, migration approaches, deployment of cloud resources, and application optimizations that utilize automation technologies.
  • Define cloud resource procurement and performance patterns through monitoring and tracking of usage and trends to optimize cloud spend and resource efficiency.
  • Propose ideas, designs, and solutions to senior or lead engineers to further cloud service utilization and optimization.
  • Develop automation scripts and other repeatable patterns to enable application and service teams to deploy software and services into cloud environments.
  • Perform research and analysis required for new cloud deployment proposals, existing cloud service modification, and other new cloud adoption to provide sound recommendations on best course of action.
Requirements
  • Required: Bachelor's Degree in Cloud Computing, Computer and Information Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, or closely related discipline.
  • Required: 3 years of experience with at least two modern programming languages (Java, JavaScript, BASH, PowerShell, etc.) and experience doing operational support of at least one of the following cloud service providers: Google Cloud Platform, Azure, or Amazon Web Services.
  • Preferred: Experience producing code that is fault-tolerant, efficient, and maintainable, experience designing, building, and deploying scalable cloud-based solution architectures through automation tools like Terraform or Ansible, and experience with standard IT security practices such as identity and access management, data protection, encryption, certificate and key management.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with containerization and container orchestration technologies such as Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
  • Terraform, Ansible, or other automation technologies certification.
