Job Summary

This position is open to qualified candidates who are interested in working with the U.S. Department of the Interior. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Commercial Services Program, providing technical assistance to commercial services staff, and reviewing facilities and services to ensure compliance with contracts and quality control standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform evaluations of concessions and commercial service providers to ensure compliance with contracts and quality control standards.
  • Collect, track, compile, and maintain data related to commercial services and special park uses using various computer software applications.
  • Perform analysis of commercial services and special park uses data for feasibility and comparability studies.
  • Prepare routine reports related to commercial services and special park uses.
  • Make recommendations to park senior staff regarding commercial services and special park uses.
Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
  • Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
  • Selectee required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
  • Any individual who is currently holding, or has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet time-in-grade requirements.
  • You may be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties.
  • You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards.
  • If you are a new employee or supervisor in the Federal government, you will be required to complete a one-year probationary period.
  • You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to two nights per month.
Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must possess one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:

  • At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service, in concession management assistance work, or in a directly related field.
  • Completed at least 4 years of progressively higher-level education above the high school level from an accredited college or university, in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite, leading to a bachelor's degree.
  • Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above.

Please note that credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 for each federal position listed as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of qualifying experience that you will be granted.

For all other applicants who are not current federal employees, your resume must state either "full-time" (or "40 hours a week") or "part-time" with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience.
