Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Radiographer-MRI to join our team at SUNY Upstate Medical University. As a Medical Radiographer-MRI, you will be responsible for reading and interpreting requests and instructions from physicians concerning MRI examination techniques.

You will determine body regions and projections to be undertaken, greet patients, explain procedures to patients, and reassure anxious and distressed patients. You will also guide and position patients before and during examinations to obtain the required views.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate MRI equipment by setting controls and making required adjustments using guidelines and standard procedures as directed by physicians.
  • Procure the required images by following established protocols and procedures.
  • Supervise junior and student technologists, ensuring they are properly trained and equipped to perform their duties.
  • Conduct quality control of MRI examinations to ensure proper positioning, technique factors, and appropriate use of resources.
  • Provide orientation to new technologists and maintain clinical competencies of staff.
  • Advising and assisting staff technologists as needed, including new routines, special views, uncooperative patients, or dealing with family members.
  • Coordinate and direct patient flow to various scan rooms, ensuring maximum efficiency.
  • Report all potential or current equipment malfunctions to the proper service personnel or supervisor.
  • Train radiographic students in the use and maintenance of radiographic equipment.
Requirements:

AAS in Radiologic Technology or equivalent, NYS license/registration (must obtain within 6 months of receiving limited permit), ARRT (must obtain within 1 year of appointment), one year experience as a radiologic technologist, and current CPR-BLS certification are required.

Registration certification for Contrast Injection is also required (must obtain within 3 months of appointment).

Candidates who possess an A.A.S. in Radiologic Technology or equivalent, NYS license or eligible, and no experience will be considered for appointment to an entry-level (SL1) position.
