Financial Controller Job Description

At Crisis24, we are seeking a highly skilled Financial Controller to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for preparing and maintaining accurate financial records and timely monthly/annual reporting. Your expertise in accounting policies and procedures will ensure the smooth operation of our financial functions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and oversee accounts payable and payroll staff and functions.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual financial and operational reports.
  • Ensure all account reconciliations are completed, including preparation of assigned account reconciliations, journal entries and analysis.
  • Maintain treasury and banking functions, including preparation of ACH transactions, wire transfers and foreign currency payment processing.
  • Contribute to monthly fluctuation analyses and reporting and support financial planning and analysis in preparation of budgeting and forecasting.
  • Assist with policies, procedures, systems and internal controls - review, maintain, and recommend improvements.
  • Assist with financial budgeting and forecasting.
  • Coordinate and assist in the preparation of information to external auditors.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings and assists with any related audits.
  • Administration of online banking, credit cards, insurance documents, registrations, etc.
  • Assist in or lead special projects as necessary - potentially including NetSuite migration.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the business and strengthen related business acumen.
  • Super-user of ERP systems, providing training and ERP expertise to operational staff as needed.
  • Develop and mentor accounting and other staff.
  • Support all ad hoc requests from ownership.

Requirements:
  • Accounting degree (or similar degree with relevant experience).
  • At least five years supervisory experience.
  • CPA and large public accounting firm experience.
  • Experience with a growing, middle market business ($100M - $500M).
  • Demonstrated success of increasing responsibilities within financial and managerial roles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to read, analyze, research, and interpret technical accounting topics to ensure compliance with GAAP financial reporting and accounting requirements.
  • Leadership experience including the ability to influence, coach, teach, and communicate effectively.
  • Quickly and effectively react to the changing needs of a dynamic company in a results-driven environment.
  • Strong organization and analytical skills and ability to manage priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Interpersonal skills to work with and build rapport with internal and external business partners, remain open to others' ideas and exhibits willingness to try new things.
  • Problem solving - identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gather and analyze information skillfully and maintain confidentiality.
  • Quality control - demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Highest standards of accuracy and precision; high attention to detail and monitors own work to ensure quality.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Software, technology, risk management or security industry experience.
  • Software-as-a-Service revenue recognition experience.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and implementation management experience. Prior experience specifically with NetSuite will be highly valued.
  • Previous experience with systems administration of 3rd party applications such as FloQast, Bill.com, Expensify, Versapay, Solupay, Avalara, UltiPro, etc. highly valued.
  • Technical accounting knowledge - US GAAP / IFRS, and at least some of the following areas: ASC 606 revenue recognition; capitalized software; income, state and local, and sales taxes; multinational accounting; etc.

  • Less than 10%

Protect the data and systems of Crisis24 and its stakeholders by adhering to policies, reporting incidents and potential problems, completing regular training, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
